The Award-a-Field Trip (AAFT) program provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for donors to give Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students the gift of experiential learning through a rewarding hands-on field trip.
Supplies for Dreams believes that every student should have the opportunity to go on a field trip during their K-8 education. Field trips are a valuable and memorable experience for students, exposing them to important cultural and historical perspectives and inspiring them about the places where education can lead. AAFT field trips are specifically designed to engage and excite students. Each field trip features a tailored curriculum that places an emphasis on discussion and interaction and is in line with national learning standards.
Donors have the opportunity to act as chaperones on the field trips, leading small groups of students through the museum and through the curriculum. Sponsors are able to engage with students on a personal level and see their impact firsthand.
In 2012, the AAFT program provided field trips for more than 400 students. The program is open to fourth through eighth grade classrooms among Supplies for Dreams’ partner CPS schools. Current museums include the Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Chicago History Museum.
We invite you to spark curiosity in our students. For more information on how you or your company can award a field trip, please contact Nicole Bronnimann, Program Director.
