This week, students from Bernard Moos Elementary School and Belmont-Cragin Elementary School visited the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. While viewing both old and new works of art, students became more familiar with Mexican culture and history.
At the "Neustras Historias" exhibit, students picked out their favorite piece of art and explained why they connected with it. Students also walked through the Dia de Los Muertos exhibit and talked about the purpose of ofrendas. Finally, at the Frida Kahlo exhibit, students learned about how Frida broke barriers as a female artist.
This was the first time SFD organized a field trip to the NMMA, and we would love to return with our other partner schools!
